Ana Paula Arósio: a Brazilian model and actress



Ana Paula Arósio (born 16 July 1975 in São Paulo, Brazil) is a Brazilian model and actress.

Arósio is one of the most popular actresses in Brazil. She started her career at the age of twelve when Ana Paula was "discovered" by a representative for an advertisement agency while shopping at a supermarket. Her first work was done with the Brazilian agency Stilo, along with Brazilian photographer Paulo Sadao. In 1989, Arósio moved to Japan to work as a model.

After appearing in hundreds of magazine covers and television commercials, she began her career as an actress. Her first job as an actress was as Berenice in the Italian-Brazilian film Forever, directed by Walter Hugo Khouri. She made her debut in television with Éramos Seis (We Were Six), a telenovela in which she played Amanda. Éramos Seis, along with her next two telenovela appearances were all on the Brazilian television network SBT. The three productions, starting in 1994, were the aforementioned telenovela, Razão de Viver (Reason to Live), and Os Ossos do Barão (The Baron's Bones).

Stardom in Brazil came about in 1998, when Arósio played the protagonist role in Hilda Furacão (Hilda the Hurricane). Hilda Furacão was a miniseries on the Brazilian television network Rede Globo written by Glória Perez. The miniseries explores the life of a young prostitute in the 1950s Brazil.

In 1998, Arósio won the "Melhores do Ano" (Best of the Year) award on the popular Brazilian Domingão do Faustão, in the category of "Revelation of the Year" for her work as Hilda in the miniseries Hilda Furacão.

After her success in Hilda Furacão, she took on the protagonist roles in two more telenovelas with Rede Globo: Terra Nostra and Esperança, both by author Benedito Ruy Barbosa and with a focus on Italian immigration to Brazil. Terra Nostra gained Arósio international renown in 1999. A telenovela about the Italian immigration to Brazil, Terra Nostra is a love story between two immigrants set amidst the wave of Italian immigration to Brazil between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. She was the main actress in the role of the Italian immigrant Giuliana Esplendore. Arósio herself is of Italian descent, with great-grandparents from Lombardy. Terra Nostra was broadcast in 95 countries, one of the most successful productions of Rede Globo.

Other than these, she has made diverse special appearances in television, as well as other miniseriers, while working on her theater career. Her most well-known theater piece was Casa de Bonecas (House of Dolls) in 2002. Besides Casa de Bonecas, Ana Paula starred in four other plays: Diário Secreto de Adão e Eva (The Secret Diary of Adam and Eve), Harmonia em Negro (Harmony in Black), Fedra (Phedra), and Batom(Lipstick).

In 2004, Ana Paula won the best supporting actress award for the film Celeste & Estrela, directed by Betse de Paula, in the 3º Film Festival of Varginha.

In 2005, she acted in the Brazilian film O Coronel e o Lobisomem, directed by Maurício Farias, alongside Brazilian actors Selton Mello e Diogo Vilela. Her first telenovela set in present day was Páginas da Vida (Pages of Life) in 2006, written by Manoel Carlos. Up until this point, she had only worked on period pieces.

In 2007, Ana Paula was chosen as the new face for Avon. In 2008, Ana Paula once again starred in another period piece, the telenovela Ciranda de Pedra, an adaptation from the 1981 novel.

Arósio won the Troféu Imprensa three times. The Troféu Imprensa is considered the greatest annual award for the biggest stand outs in Brazilian television in several categories. She won the award in the category of "Revelation of the Year" for Hilda in Hilda Furacão in 1998, and in the category na categoria of Best Actress for Giuliana in Terra Nostra and for Judge Camille in Esperança in 2002.

Bárbara Bermudo: a Puerto Rican journalist of Cuban descent

Bárbara Bermudo (born June 5, 1975) is a Puerto Rican journalist of Cuban descent.

Bermudo was born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. She hosts Primer Impacto, a Spanish language news program which covers predominantly human interest stories and is popular among the Hispanic population in the United States. Bermudo joined the program in 2002 and co-hosted it with Fernando Del Rincón.

In 2003, Bermudo had a small role playing herself in the film Chasing Papi (Chasing Papi at IMDB), starring Roselyn Sanchez, Jaci Velasquez, and Sofía Vergara.

In 2004 and 2005, Bermudo hosted Lo Que no vio de Premios lo Nuestro (What you didn't see in Lo Nuestro Awards) and Noche de Estrellas (The Night of Stars). Bermudo has made television appearances in El Show de Cristina, El Escandalo del Mediodia (The Midday Scandal), and Que Bodas (What a Wedding). She is one of the eight cover subjects of the 2007 edition of People en Español's "50 Most Beautiful People" issue.

She married Mario Andres Moreno in a Dade County courthouse and later had an elaborate wedding on November 29, 2008 in the Dominican Republic. In February 2009, Bermudo confirmed to "People en Español" that she was pregnant[4] and on Friday, May 15, 2009, she gave birth to a girl named Mía Andrea. On Monday, October 18, 2010, she gave birth to her second daughter named Camila Andrea.

Verónica Orozco: a Colombian actress and singer


Verónica Orozco (born Verónica Orozco Aristizábal on June 8, 1979) is a Colombian actress and singer.

Her older sister is actress Ana María Orozco.

Her mother is Carmenza Aristizábal Hoyos and her father is actor Luís Fernando Orozco. In January, 2008, she married Martín de Francisco in Villa de Leyva.

Orozco was a part of the Colombian TV musical show Okidoki, which led her to release three albums under the group name Okidoki in the early 1990s. In 2006 Orozco started her solo career releasing the successful album Verónica Orozco. Her first single was "Las bragas", which had a lot of controversy around the lyrics suggesting lesbianism. Her second single was "Miénteme". It won an award for "Video del Año" (video of the year) in Los Premios Shock (Shock Awards). Her third single was "descarada". She performed the song in Los Premios TV y Novelas and at one of the Nuestra Tierra 2007 concerts.

She is currently starring in a new Colombian TV show called Protegido airing on the RCN Colombian Channel. The program first aired on May 6, 2007.

She also participated in the 2006 La Mega: Nuestra Tierra concerts, which showcased Colombian performers.

Verónica is actually filming with her role as Lina in Los Protegidos. She later stated she would focus again in her music career and her second studio album was expected in mid 2009, but as of today no reports have been made about she whether will be or not hitting the studio again to record new songs.

Veronica is currently starring on the Colombian version of Grey's Anatomy called "A Corazon Abierto" and she also sings the theme song of it. She's currently working on her music again and filming A Corazon Abierto.

Mónica Spear: Miss Venezuela 2004 and an actress

Mónica Spear Mootz (born October 1, 1984 in Maracaibo, Zulia State, Venezuela) is a former beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Venezuela 2004 and an actress.

Despite being considered a dark horse during the Miss Venezuela 2004 pageant, Spear went on to win the national crown and represent Venezuela at Miss Universe 2005. She made the top 15 after Ana Karina Áñez (Miss Venezuela 2003) failed to make the top 15 in Miss Universe 2004 (the first time in 22 years for a Venezuelan in Quito, Ecuador. She went on to place in the top five after the evening gown and swimsuit competitions. During the interview or Final Question round, Spear failed to answer the question given by Miss Mexico, Laura Elizondo, and therefore was named only 4th runner-up.

Prior to being named the "fifth most beautiful woman in the universe," Spear completed a bachelor's degree in theater from the University of Central Florida before returning to Venezuela to compete in the national pageant. Her participation in Miss Venezuela also became notorious when she was asked during the traditional "breakfast with press" the day after the pageant, because of her degree, which Venezuelan playwright she liked the most, to which she answered, "Gabriel García Márquez", a Colombian writer. She crowned her Miss Venezuela successor, Jictzad Viña, on September 15, 2005.

Spear married in June 2008 an English businessman and gave birth to a daughter, Maya, in October 2008.

She is currently one of the most successful actresses in Venezuela for her main roles in soap operas. She took her first role as a protagonist in the successful RCTV soap opera "Mi Prima Ciela" (My Cousin Ciela), in which she played a high school student ill with leukemia. The show was a success in Venezuela and other parts of South America, and it was also televised in the U.S. by TeleFutura. Spears held the starring role in Venevision's soap opera "La Mujer Pefecta" in 2010 and currently has a starring role in "Flor Salvaje"; a Spanish-language telenovela produced by the United States-based television network Telemundo and RTI Producciones.

Sebastián Zurita: a Mexican actor

Sebastián Zurita Bach (born November 22, 1986) is a Mexican actor.

The eldest son of actors Humberto Zurita and Christian Bach, Sebastián Zurita Bach made his acting debut as a child, appearing in Cañaveral de Pasiones (1996) as young Pablo Montero. After several years, the then 21-year-old actor made his television return in En Nombre del Amor (2008) as Emiliano Saenz. A year later, Zurita joined the cast of the 2009 remake of the telenovela Corazón Salvaje inspired by the original 1956 novel by Caridad Bravo Adams. He also starred in the 2009 film Ángel Caído, along with his father and younger brother Emiliano Zurita.

He dated actress Angelique Boyer for six months. Since May 2010, he has been dating actress Grettell Valdez. Their relationship was much discussed in the press due to Valdez being ten years older than Zurita.

Ximena Navarrete: Miss Universe 2010 from Mexico

Jimena "Ximena" Navarrete (born on February 22, 1988) is a Mexican model and beauty pageant titleholder who won Miss Universe 2010. She was previously named as Nuestra Belleza México 2009.

Navarrete was born and raised in Guadalajara, the capital city of Jalisco, Mexico. She is one of two children, born to dentist parents Carlos Navarrete and Gabriela Rosete. She began modeling locally at the age of sixteen, and studied nutrition at the Valle de Atemajac University, prior to taking part in the pageant world.

Navarrete was crowned Nuestra Belleza Jalisco on July 16, 2009 in her hometown, and subsequently won the national title of Nuestra Belleza México as well, besting thirty-three other contestants during the 16th edition of that event, held September 20, 2009 in Mérida, Yucatán. That night, Navarrete became the second consecutive winner from Jalisco, following Karla Carrillo, the outgoing titleholder and a close friend who encouraged her to participate in the pageant.


On August 23, 2010, Navarrete (then known as "Jimena") was named Miss Universe, making her the second Mexican delegate to win the title, after Lupita Jones in 1991. Coincidentally, both were crowned in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On February 10, 2011, Ximena Navarrete became the official face of L'Oreal Paris and Old Navy.

In May of 2011, Navarrete traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico, her hometown, to raise awareness for Children International, a U.S.-based humanitarian organization helping over 12,000 poor children there.

During her reign, Navarrete traveled to Spain, Mexico, Indonesia, China, France, India, Russia, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, Thailand, Brazil, Guatemala, Chile and Bahamas in addition to numerous trips around the United States.

Sara Maldonado: a Mexican actress

Sara Maldonado Fuentes was born on March 10th 1980 in the city of Jalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. She studied acting in "Centro de Educación Artística de Televisa" for 2 years.
